In an attempt to further reach more markets and offer its premium-grade smartphone at an affordable price point, Apple is said to reduce its dependence on China and move parts of its iPhone 12 manufacturing to India.
This will not be surprising considering the fact that the company initially started the manufacturing of its iPhone SE in India back in 2020 and the same goes with the release of the older iPhone XR and then the iPhone 11 series so it might be safe to assume the same will happen with the current model.
The report by Business Standard has it that the company initially planned to move about 7 to 10 percent of the iPhone 12 production to India from China while also planning to move the manufacturing of the iPhone 12 Mini to India but there’s no official conclusion yet about the shift.
The iPhone 12 models manufactured in India will be available for purchase in the domestic market and will also be exported. With local manufacturing, the company will be able to avoid paying hefty import tariffs which will also reduce the price point of the device to the local consumers.

Considering the huge opportunities in the Indian’s smartphone market even though Apple isn’t the number one or two on the list of the top smartphone makers because of the exorbitant price tag slapped on its iPhone series, the move would further enhance the company’s reach.
