Apple will reportedly release the second generation of its premium TWS earbuds, the AirPods Pro. According to a report from renowned Apple tracker, Mark Gurman, the tech giant is expected to debut the earbuds during the launching event of the iPhone 14 series this week.
“The new AirPods Pro will update a model that first went on sale in October 2019,” Gurman’s Power On newsletter reads. “I reported last year that new AirPods Pro would arrive in 2022, and now I’m told that Wednesday will be their big unveiling.”
The device is expected to come with a couple of important upgrades including the next-gen Apple H1 processor as well as a higher quality audio output using either Apple’s Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) which will mean yanking off Bluetooth technology or just sticking with the current Bluetooth 5.2 technology using the LC3 codec to transmit audio efficiently.
In terms of our expectations regarding the device’s design, the AirPods Pro 2 could have the in-ear silicone tip like the previous model and could come with a charging case that emits a sound when searching for it using Apple’s Find My app.
