The newest report has it that POCO X4 5G with a 2201116PG model number was spotted at Malaysia’s SIRIM certification platform back in January, hinting that a release is imminent.
In fact, the device has been approved by Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). The certifications showed that the device launch is going to take place this month.
Although there isn’t any information on the device’s hardware specifications.
To make matters worse, the same 2201116PG model was seen with POCO X4 Pro 5G moniker at TDRA. However, this has been hinted to be a possible error with the TDRA listing.
Past reports also revealed that the 2200116PG is the model number of the Indian variant of the smartphone.
Other reports have it that the POCO X4 5G is just a rebadged version of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. This is common practice with most Chinese smartphone makers and it’s especially common with the Redmi and POCO brands.
POCO X4 5G specifications
Even though nothing is certain for now, we expect the device to sport a big display and if it’s just a rebadged Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, it’s certainly going to sport a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and an FHD+ resolution.
The design of the smartphone will look similar to the iPhone 13 series – because of the flat sides but nothing close in similarities apart from that.
There should be a hole-punch camera cut-out at the front of the device which would potentially house a 16MP sensor while the rear camera module will be made up of a triple setup: 108-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (macro).
Other relevant information includes the device being powered by a Snapdragon 695 chipset and an 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of storage space.
As for the battery, Xiaomi’s sub-brands are often generous in this department so 5,000mAh Li-Po won’t be a bad idea at all. Also, super-fast charging support up to 67W might also be ideal.
The device may come other features like dual speakers, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and a microSD card slot.
As of now, there isn’t any POCO smartphone out there just yet and the POCO X4 5G might just be the first smartphone from the company to kick off the year.
