Scion is being renamed is and I’m models for 2017 model year of production. Also, the is wasn’t called a Yaris Sedan rather its name was kept intact. This makes the 2017 car Mazda2 but with Toyota badge be called the Yaris iA.
Although a car bearing two names might not be normal in the present century which in the case of the iA that is yet to gain a market rep for itself. The hatchback compact Scion will be called Corolla iM. Although the sudden change of name might call in some question because of the competition it will face in the large market and changing name suddenly might not be what lovers of the car want?
No matter what, Toyota owns its own power to name whatever whatever. Since Corolla on the normal hand is becoming the mist popular compact in America, then the issue of the iA and the iM might need a better look. But as the case might be, having to wait on Toyota to make press releases on in order to get a better insight might be the most helping step here.
Although the Mazda 2 and the Yaris iA are still the same thing using a 1.5 liter engine and a choice between manual or six-speed automatic. All these issue of naming are due to market target based on probabilities and assumptions. The case with Corolla iM is different t in its own. Still adhered to a 1.8 litres engine and a CVT might make sense especially for a trendy vehicle of its status.
“When we announced the transition of the Scion models to Toyota we hadn’t planned on changing the names of our cars, but by popular demand, for our sports car, we decided to adopt the global name of 86”
said Bill Fay, Toyota Division Group Vice President, in a statement.
