As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to grow, a dedicated team of scientific researchers have made a breakthrough in which they’re able to detect the Coronavirus in people’s system.

The group have been able to now develop a kit which is capable of providing the result for a possible viral infection right under 10 minutes which is much faster than the current method being used currently around the world.

The Coronavirus has been a serious health issue since it’s outbreak last December in Wuhan, China and has spread all over the world with hundreds of thousands of cases with thousands of critical situations. Being labelled a pandemic by the World Health Organization, the disease is highly infectious and requires aggressive measures to curb off the disease.

So a team of scientists at the Nagasaki University collaborated with Canon Medical Systems and the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and developed the efficient testing method.

While the method is currently undergoing clinical trials at the Nagasaki Prefecture which has also had a confirmed case of the Coronavirus infection. The test kit is in form of a portable tool which weighs just 2.4kg. For this to work, there is a need for a swab from the patient’s nose or throat or at least any genetic material which may have traces of the virus and then they use a fluorescent dye to illuminate the infection for the researchers.

The kit requires less time to bring the vital materials to detectable levels than in a standard polymerase chain-reaction tests.

But for a more accurate level of detection to be made, the time could take up to 40 minutes from the beginning to the end and even allow a single unit to test up to 700 unique samples in a single day.

Given it runs the entire day non stop. The system is currently in the Nagasaki University and is being planned to be distributed to various university hospitals and other medical institutions in Japan and if this can become global, then it can make the detection of the virus as quick as possible.
