I personally don’t like friends or anybody looking through my E-Mail application or SMS application. If you’re like me, you might be hoping that how would you achieve hiding your data from unwanted eyes? Well this is why we have this tutorial.

The good news for Infinix Users is that they don’t need a third party application to do this as everything is already premade within the devices. The Infinix X-Hide application does just that.

Sincce Android Marshmallows 6.0 (XOS Chameleon 2.0) which was bundled with Infinix devices launched since late 2016, this Operating system had been available in hem all. For example, the Infinix Hot 4, Note 3, Zero 4 all have the Android 6.0 and XOS Chameleon 2.0.

This devices all have a bunch of X-Apps which all have different functionalities that all together makes the phone to be a good deal.

If you want to check whether your device has the app, what you should do is simply going through your X-App folders and checking maybe X-Hide is present but if it’s not, then you can type to search for it within the app launcher/manager area if it’s not there, then you will need a third party app to do the hiding but for those who use XOS Chameleon 2.0 upward, you should see it.

How to hide Apps within the X-Hide App

After you’ve located the application, tap on it and it will open a new interface asking you to set it up. The set up includes adding a password, hiding the X-Hide application itself, Helps and other safety measures.

After setting up the application (The Setting can still be assessed anytime within the app itself. Now that you’re within the application, the next thing to do is to select what you want to hide. You can hide Communications, Pictures, Videos, Records and Applications. For this tutorial, we will be hiding an application.

  • Tap on the App Hide button represented by an Android logo
  • At the top right, there is a + button, click on that (it shows a prompt message click on Add button)
  • From the lists of application, click on the applications you want to hide by selecting them or you can select all
  • click the Mark button and then you can access your hidden applications within the X-Hide app

You can the same thing for all other file types as mentioned above. Simply clicking on them will bring those apps within the X-Hide app’s UI. You can then launch any app, watch videos, view pictures or read communications and listen to your records all within the application. It’s that simple and easy.

To Unhide hidden applications within the X-Hide app

For many reasons, you might decide to unhide an application or file from the X-Hide application. The process is just like previous one. You simply click on the drop down menu located at the top right bar of the X-Hide section where your hidden file is (I.E App Hide for example)

Then click on the Unhide button when the menu drops down. The Unhide prompts your hidden app lists to be selectable and so any ffile you don’t want hidden can be selected and then you click on the Mark button to Unhide them. Unhidden files will be accessible to the general public on the front end of your phone.

You can also hide the X-Hide app itself

The name of the app is very suspicious and friends or those you don’t want to tamper with your personal files can click on that app. Although it’s passworded but they will know that you got your files locked up somewhere. Infinix tried to make this innovation smarter. Hence, you can hide the X-Hide application itself. By doing so, it’s only you that knows where the app is hidden.

Although some launchers offer Hidden mode but it doesn’t entirely work when the user searches for that app. But the X-Hide hiding itself can be a good thing. To do this, do the following.

  • Click on the Settings button
  • Under the Safety area, tap the Hidden Mode to turn it on.
  • Accept the prompt and then save your password/create another

That’s all. Now you or anyone can’t even see the X-Hide application again. If you want to confirm, you can go to your Launcher and search for X-Hide but you won’t see it.

But to see it again, you just go to the Phone application(The native phone application) and then tap the dialler to open the button area. Then enter “##password” where password is the password you used to register the application initially. And that’s all. That’s tricky and a good thing right.

Eventhough, the X-Hide still has it’s shortcomings. For example, Your applications are still accessible in the App manager but hidden Media files are nowhere to be found on the device. You won’t see the picture, video, audio file anywhere not even in the File Manager.

Other shortcomings are if you hide applications that uses the notification area, there won’t be notifications again. For example, if you X-Hide WhatsApp, you won’t get those pop out messages anymore. You will always have to check the app in X-Hide to regularly see message updates.

The application is also non-transferable. It’s native to the XOS Chameleon 2.0 and above. Unless you want to use some dark-hacks to break that. The app also can’t be deleted.

But all in all, you can safely keep your applications, files and communications from getting exposed to the unwanted eyes using the Infinix X-Hide Application. You can try that and let’s know if this works for you.
