The Infinix Note 3 is packaged with Android Marshmallows 6.0 (XOS Chameleon 2.0) which is the modified version of the Operating System. There is a good and bad way to upgrade your device and that is always with the case with the Infinix Note 3.

Many people have different reasons for wanting to upgrade their device’s Operating System. example could be to meet up with the latest trends or for security reasons.

It’s always advisable by Google to upgrade your devices whenever there is a security patch or an entire upgrade to that newer version especially if your device maker makes upgrading available for that particular device you use.

This is is the case with Infinix Note 3 as it’s officially upgradable. Infinix usually send the Update to every devices ones connected to the internet but if you don’t find yours, there is a way to do it. Just read on.

If you’d like to do some upgrade to the device this short tutorial is for you.

First thing first

You should backup your files so that you won’t lose any of them. To back up your file, do the following.

TECHNOLOGY IN FULL DETAILS

  • From your home screen, drag down the notification bar and click on the settings button
  • Navigate to Backup & Reset area and click
  • Just click on Back Up My Data and then turn it on
  • The go back to the previous screen and then click on Backup Account
  • Set up an account (Google Account for example)

That’s all. You can also go to your file manager assuming  your file manager can do backup and do that.

Note that it’s not necessary you utilise the Infinix native backup system it’s just a recommended means of backup from the company though.

Okay after we’re done with the backing up of our device’s data, it’s time to proceed to the next step which is

Checking for Updates

Still inside the Settings application, go back to the main settings interface and navigate down to About Phone and look for System Updates.

Clicking on that will load out if there is an update available. Be warned that it might not immediately present to you the Android Nougat 7.0 And the Infinix Firmware to you.

It will still provide you with some upgrades which is nearing 300MB in size. If you refresh, then you can get the OS Upgrade.

Download the Upgrade

Just like any other device, a mobile device’s operating system too is a bunch of files. After clicking on the Update Now button, the device will prompt you a message asking if you want to downloading despite not using Wi-Fi.

You can tick on the button to turn that prompt message off that’s if you wish to download using a mobile data.

Do note that the Infinix Firmware upgrade is about 1.7GB (You’re downloading an entire operating system online remember) so if you’re ready, then start the download and the progress can be found at the notification center above the phone.

Preparing the Upgrade

When you’re done downloading, the device shows you the directory where the upgrade file had been stored. It can be accessed if you want using a file manager.

It’s usually in a .ZIP format with a generic numbering (which is the firmware numbering for that OS and your own device).

Assuming you want to keep the upgrade file for some time before doing the upgrade itself, then you can move it from there to your computer and keep but do remember which folder you took it from.

That’s the most important thing.

Anyway, if you want to upgrade immediately, still at the upgrade layout, you will be asked to click on the “Update Now” button which will then start a query that unZip all the files and then it will prepare the upgrade which restarts your device.

After The Upgrade

Your device starts afresh although you shouldn’t lose any data if your phone is working on normal condition before the upgrade.

Assuming you can’t find your data or something is missing, you can then restore your backed up data and then all your lost files and data like Contacts, SMS, Email, Passwords, Note etc will be restored.

The upgrade doesnt usually affect the SD-Card So your data should be safe to some extent but you know, devices are unique and different from one another.

You will see bunch of newer interfaces on your device. For example, the newer music application, some added applications and the X-Apps will be upgraded too.

Conclusion

Anyone can upgrade their Infinix Note 3 from the previous Android Android Marshmallows 6.0 (Chameleon XOS 2.0) to Android Nougat 7.0 which is a better looking version of  the Android OS.

Doing it the right way is just a big deal. If you try to do the upgrade with the wrong firmware which is not working with your phone, it will affect your phone or even break it.

Every device is unique to itself and so should be treated as such.

Tthe X-Club is the official Infinix social network where other Infinix device users can mingle and talk about the possible problems they face while using the device.

So you can always visit it on your device to learn more about the upgrade. I hope this helps.
