If one of the reasons why you never made the switch from an iPhone to an Android smartphone is due to the fact that you’re unable to simply transfer your WhatsApp chat history away from your old phone, then you can reconsider your position on this.
The feature is now available on any smartphone launching or that can update to the latest Android 12 OS.
So if you’re on the market to shop for the newly announced Google Pixel 6 series, you can rest assured that you’ll be able to have a smooth transition from your older device to the newer one.
Although this capability seems to only to be limited for a long time to only Samsung’s smartphones and then things got extended to Pixel smartphones but this will change to all devices running Android 12 OS in the very near future.
The transfer is also quite interesting and simple. It requires simply plugging the Lightning to USB-C cable from your iPhone to whatever Android device of your choice.
In this example, let’s use the Google Pixel 6 series. Following the above method, your Pixel smartphone will open a modal prompt during an initial setup allowing you to scan a QR code on your iPhone in order to launch WhatsApp.
When the scanning is done just like the way it works for the WhatsApp web, all conversations, media, and other documents can be easily transferred to your Pixel device or whatever Android smartphone you chose.
Google made it known it worked closely with WhatsApp to ensure a safe data transfer in order to keep sensitive files and documents secured when moving them from your old iPhone to your new Pixel device.
However, you should note that you’d lose access to your WhatsApp on your iPhone (the device from which you’re transferring data) due to security reasons as WhatsApp can only run on a single smartphone.
