Sine the release of the iPhone 12 series, Apple might never look back as the Cupertino-based tech giant has ousted wired charging bricks form the box of its future iPhones – a trend many predicted will become more popularized as the year gets by.
But what’s more interesting is the invention of the wired detachable charger which uses magnets to stick up to the back of the iPhone 12 creating a wireless charging experience.
The MagSafe charger as its called is a quite pricey (or cheap depending on how deep your pocket is) wireless charger that costs about US$39 depending on where you buy it from.
One common trend is the fact that different fake companies over the years are known to always jump on the bandwagon of making fake Apple products. We know about the fake AirPods which sells cheaper on AliExpress and looks exactly like the real ones, the same is the case with the MagSafe charger.
And if you’re doubting the authenticity of your Apple Magsafe charger, there is a way to know that by simply checking it via your iPhone.
Don’t worry because Apple always have a way of ensuring its devices are well intertwined within its product ecosystem.
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your MagSafe charger and make sure that it’s charging.
Step 2: Open the Settings app on your iPhone and navigate to General > About.
Step 3: Scroll down until you see Apple MagSafe Chargerand tap it.
Step 4: Note the Manufacturer name and other details to ensure this is an Apple product.
As you can see on the image above, if it’s an Apple-made MagSafe charger, then you’ll see the manufacturer on it and if its a fake MagSafe, you’ll see it there.
However the meaning of “Fake” might vary depending on your own definition. Because it’s not made by Apple doesn’t mean its a garbage product. But for a decent brand, a name might just show right there which might just not be Apple.
But if the seller claims that the product is an Apple-made MagSafe, then you might want to contact them and resolve it amicably.
