The same is with the Apple Watch and the iPhone which now connects even much better than before. Being able to use the iPhone to unlock your Apple Watch is a big deal and that is what we’ll be discussing in this short guide.

One thing is that most people don’t want others to be prying into their personal life and that is why its essential to keep our Apple Watch well secured especially if you use the Apple Pay service.

By default, you’re down with the simple four-digit passcode for the Apple Watch when locked. Though provide some level of security, 4 digits can be guessed by anyone and that means “not so secured” but what about a 10 digit passcode for your Apple Watch?

Yeah that sounds right but then the mini screen on the Apple Watch isn’t really made for typing such a long chunk of numbers which is where the iPhone comes in because usually, most people are always on their phone and interacts with it far more than they interact with other devices like their smartwatches for example.

So if that’s what you want, here’s how you unlock your Apple Watch with your iPhone with ease.

Change Apple Watch Passcode on iPhone

To get started, open Watch from your iPhone’s Home Screen and then head to Passcode > Simple Passcode and then toggle off the Switch. Afterwards, you’ll be instructed to enter your current passcode on your Apple Watch after which you’ll be allowed to enter a longer Passcode through your iPhone that’ll be used in locking your Apple Watch.

In order to unlock your Apple Watch using your iPhone, then all you need to do is enable the toggle by sliding it back to right and then you’ll be prompted via a pop up to enter the passcode on your Apple Watch. When you enter the correct passcode, your iPhone will return to the passcode screen with the Unlock with iPhone toggle which will by default be on.

With the unlock with iPhone toggle on, unlocking your Apple Watch via an iPhone should be easier and so next time you want to do so – assuming your iPhone has a Face ID for example, just raise the device up and put it on your face.

When the Unlock with iPhone feature is on, each time your smartphone’s screen unlocks, the same happens to your Apple Watch simultaneously.

It is important to note that if your iPhone were already unlocked when you put on your Apple Watch, you would need to lock and unlock it for it to have the desired effect on your Apple Watch.

Another important point to keep in mind is that for the Unlock with iPhone feature to work, you must have Wrist Detection enabled, and your iPhone needs to be within Bluetooth range of your Apple Watch, which is approximately 33 feet.
