The next-gen Hyundai Tucson gas already made its debut in South Korea, the company’s HQ and while there isn’t much known yet about this vehicle, the redesign is one of the most obvious thing that let you know this is definitely a newer model.
The car now gets an American specs as well as well as some pretty cool images to accompany it. The remodeled dash mock after Tesla with the hoodless gauge cluster right behind the steering wheel as well as an another slightly larger 10.25-inch touchscreen display at the center console.
Starting the vehicle requires pushing a button at the center console and there are excluded buttons for climate controls which is now being swapped out for a haptic touch instead.

As for the performance, what should be expected are three different powertrain options with a standard 2.5-liter four cylinder engine that produces 187 horsepower and the 178 pound-feet of torque. The Korean automaker stated that the 2022 Tucson is going to return 28 mpg combined, a three mpg improvement over the 2.4-liter offered in the current Tucson. Shifting is handled by an eight-speed automatic that Hyundai says adds ratio range at the bottom (for extra thrust off the line) and top (better highway fuel economy). All-wheel drive is optional, and Hyundai says that Sport mode is capable of sending more torque to the rear wheels, though Hyundai doesn’t specify how much more.
There will also be a plug-in hybrid model that will be available with the same 1.6 turbo and PHEV six-speed auto even though Hyundai hasn’t revealed power configuration for this model just yet. There is a 13.8kWh battery within the Tucson which is able to reach 28 miles of all-electric range according to Hyundai.
While there hasn’t been any test drive of the Hyundai Tucson 2022, there is one thing that is likely to stand out of the car and that is it’s speed and performance. Aside the new design which males it different from the other models or at least based on the pictures seen, I might be able to really fall in love with the vehicle when it finally get released by 2021.
Hyindai promised to include a performance-oriented e-Handling technology in the hybrid models which will be able to precisely apply electric motor torque control based on the dynamic inputs and road conditions in order to improve cornering performance. That in itself sound quite refreshing for a 2022 vehicle.
There is also going to be electric motor system to allow for incremental braking force on the front wheels so as to further enhance the better steering response on initial turn-in. Hyundai also stated that the Tucson ill be available with the company’s latest technologies such as the Digital Key and Smaht Pahk then driver assistance features will come with some other optional features to make things work fine and that including the blind-spot tech.
