Tesla will never cease to impress and after unveiling it’s gigantic truck which is truly polarizing, the genius Founder/CEO of the EV company, Elon Musk had promised there will be a Cybertruck with solar charging panel option which can at least extend driving range 15 miles a day. And with the “Fold-out solar Wings” the range could increment to 30 or even 40 miles per day.

Elon Musk is a big Twitter meme guy. In a recent Tweet, he said that he “Would love this to be self-powered,” adding that an average car in the United States travels 30 miles per day.

With the Solar panel attached to the rooftop of the Cybertruck, this would ultimately give you a better chance of surviving at least giving you a bit of a step forward just in case the world run out of electricity somehow by 2022…Just kidding.

But the point here is that an adventurer/camper can have the car always charging while they enjoy their time out in the wild where there is little to no electrical power supply. This option will boost the chance of getting the car at least to the nearest charging station. From my point of view, it’s totally a great addition if implemented.

The photovoltaic panels that can be used to charge car batteries haven’t been really popular this far considering the large portion of spaces needed to generate any significant power that can be used to power a vehicle. In the case of the Cybertruck, there is quite of a bit bigger room for such panel and in fact the industry behind the Photovoltaic panels have been creating advanced solar cells that can be built into transparent glass which would fit very well on the Cybertruck’s roof if you can imagine.

As mentioned earlier the truck is totally polarizing. You either love it or you complete hate it. And considering the fact that Tesla decided to think out of the box to create something entirely different in a industry that is so saturated and dominated by the Ford F-150, you’ll need a product that stands out completely in every ways possible.

The solar option would definitely increase the sales of the Tesla Cybertruck if you think about it. Elon Musk said the car had already had more than 140 thousand preorder and in fact, there will be a “Matte Black” version of the car which is absolutely interesting.

Other options Tesla customers commonly opt for is the “full-self driving” abilities and specific colors that plump up the price tag from the base $39,900 USD.

Comparing the Cybertruck with it’s EV Truck rivals like the Rivian R1T for example, the Cybertruck is much cheaper at it’s base price. This could mean Tesla’s ability to acquire a larger customer base because profitability is definitely one of the drivers of the company. It’s skated on the edge of profitability for years, and ramping up manufacturing requires heavy investments. And the Cybertruck will be bringing in less money per truck than Sanford Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi expected by a whopping $7,000 to $10,000.

“The aggressive price of the Cybertruck does raise the question of how healthy gross margins might ultimately be,” Sacconaghi said in a Friday research note. According to Elon Musk during the unveiling of the Cybertruck on Friday, he said there will be a three model with the base model being a 250+ mile range that starts at the $39,900 price point and then a 300+ mile option which increases to $49,900 and then the high-end model which is 500+ miles option which starts at $69,900 and shipping of the car will start in 2021.
