The present war between Apple Inc and the FBI over San Bernardino iPhone 5C is the major topic of the day everywhere. Almost all tech companies are in support of Apple in not unlocking the device which was used by Syed Farook the man behind the killing of 14 people in a mass shoot out last December. FBI though his phone would be very useful because of personal data on it. This could lead to a better way of furthering their investigation but the device needed to be unlocked and without backdoor system being requested for by the Fed is what is causing the chaos. Now Bill Gates had advised Apple inc to unlock the device.
“This is a specific case where the government is asking for access to information. They are not asking for some general thing, they are asking for a particular case
It is no different than [the question of] should anybody ever have been able to tell the phone company to get information, should anybody be able to get at bank records. Let’s say the bank had tied a ribbon round the disk drive and said ‘don’t make me cut this ribbon because you’ll make me cut it many times’.”
Narrated Mr Bill Gates who explained this to Financial Times showing his disagreement with Apple INC CEO Tim Cook over the creation of a backdoor system for the Federal Bureau.
“I hope that we have that debate.”
“I hope that we have that debate so that the safeguards are built and so people do not opt — and this will be country by country — to say] it is better that the government does not have access to any information.”
Gates also narrated that it will be better if the government have no right access to any information but that Apple inc should at some point consider helping out in some way.
Gate’s former company has signaled approval of Apple’s stance alongside bosses from High tech companies like Google, Facebook, Twitter and others even though current Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella hasn’t made any comment as of now besides retweeting a statement in support of Apple inc by the Reform Government Surveillance group. But the issue might actually be more than what its though to be. But either government or Apple, the issue keeps prolonging.
