Apple reportedly denied Parler of its re-entry appeal on App Store

Newest report has it that Apple has denied the re-entry of Parler, the conservative social networking platform back on its App store citing that the company is yet to deal effectively with its offensive contents which was the reason it got axed from the App store earlier this year.

According to Bloomberg’s report on the story, Apple is said to have declined the re-entry appeal of Parler on its App store stating that the Parler’s latest community guidelines still doesn’t meet with its standards.

“Simple searches reveal highly objectionable content, including easily identified offensive uses of derogatory terms regarding race, religion and sexual orientation, as well as Nazi symbols,” it reportedly told Parler. “For these reasons your app cannot be returned to the App Store for distribution until it complies with the guidelines.”

Based on the new community guidelines, Parler states that it’ll ban threats, spam and other categories of contents which aren’t specifically mentioned if those would include derogatory contents considering how other platforms are strict with these types of contents.

Even though Parler claims to being very open to people of different political spectrum, its largest audience are from the right-wing political spectrum and some people had seen it as an echo-chamber rather than an open platform for everyone to discuss fairly.

The route Parler took had led to different companies severing their ties with the service. A good example was the case of Amazon which cut it off its cloud hosting service that led to Parler being offline for over a week.

The company’s CEO and co-founder John Matze also got fired during the peak of the company’s struggle to secure its place back on the internet.

Parler got a much more nation-wide attention during the Jan. 6th US Capitol attack as the platform is accused to be harboring hateful contents and accounts. The service saw an influx of numerous users after the former US President Donald Trump was ousted from Twitter over his comments prior to the protest.

Bloomberg also reports that Parler cut ties with its last three iOS app developers alongside four other employees. The company still maintains an Android app that can be side-loaded from outside Google’s Play Store, and its site relaunched on February 15th. Parler and Apple did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
