Apple AirPods Max Reportedly Drains Overnight Even In Smart Case

The problem is said to be related to the device being connected to non-Apple devices and the Apple TV

The AirPods Max headphone is a polarizing device which has faced a mixed rating from the tech communities worldwide however, a bad news for Apple this week is that a number of consumers are reportedly experiencing the battery draining for no reason even when the device isn’t used or when it is in its case.

The story was first reported by Apple-dedicated media outlets AppleTips and 9to5Mac, users are noticing that their AirPods Max are sometimes draining a full battery overnight, even when placed into the Smart Case.

Since the AirPods Max has no power off button, the smart casing was built to put the device into an ultra-low power mode in order to prevent the battery from draining when its not being used.

More and more AirPods Max owners are complaining about battery problems. Users discuss the problem on Reddit, social media, the Apple Support forum, and various other forums. For example, that the battery drains during the day without using the AirPods Max.

A Smart Case is supplied with the headphones, when you place the Max in the case, the energy saving mode is switched on and active connections are disconnected. In practice this does not seem to be the case, and the battery life drains during the night. From 100% to 1% is not uncommon.

However, some of the users noted quickly that they only experience when they have paired the AirPods Max with a non-Apple device while some have even blamed the Apple TV for this error but there have not been any official solution to this problem which might require a software update in the future to make the device work properly.

Until then, some have suggested that restoring their AirPods Max to factory settings by pressing and holding the Digital Crown and noise control button until the status light turns white might help.

The much anticipated AirPods Max was announced back in Dec. 15th and received a mixed review from Apple’s customers and nearly everyone who found the device either interesting or just a plain overpriced piece of metal with speakers on it.

The device definitely have its flaws which includes the horribly designed casing meant to tune down the battery’s consumption when the device is not in use as well as its digital crown which was brought about from the Apple Watch series.

The AirPods Max is also quite expensive and comes in multiple color options. With active noise cancellation and some powerful speaker drivers on the device, many consumers said they had a great experience with the device even though it’s weight is an issue with others because the device is made of metal.
