Amazon is trying all its best to fence off cases of fake products off its network and in this case, the company had sued three of its seller for actually using sock puppet account to post ake reviews aboutntheir own products something which the company doesn’t want at all and this had led to a sort of serious law suit filing so as to discourage others having that in mind. The lawsuit are against the three self acclaimed Amazon sellers based on their fake product reviews. The fake reviews had spanned about 30-45% of the seller’s total reviews. The alleged sellers include Michael Abbara from Carlifornia, Kurt Bauer from Pennsylvania and a Chinese company CCBetter Direct.
All that Amazon is wanting as of now is the bann off of the defendants from selling produtc on any of its sites or in fact accessing any of its services. Parts of the suit is that the profit the seller had made on the Amazon marketplace be paid back to Amazon and this exceeds $25K. The company had announced that since last year 2015, it had sued aroud 1,000 people with abusive or fake reviews all in the sake of duping others for the money. So the company had being very aggressive on cases like these.
According to a spokesperson from the company, he narrated the attempts of the company to fence off such abusive sales off its platform. “Our goals is to eliminate the incentives for sellers to engage in review abuse and shut down this ecosystem around fraudluelent reviews in exchange for compensation.” The spokesperson said.
The company has its very own smart system in stopping abusers from operating on the platform and if any is detected, they are immediately locked down without any delay. The company is also developing its own algorithmic software that can help detect fake reviews and prevent them from even appearing on the review page in fact. According to the spokesperson who also said the company though yet to come up with a computerized solution is still doing its very possible best in combating the fake review sellers. “The vast majority of reviews on Amazon are authentic, helping millions of customers make informed buying decisions each day.” He said.
