With the increase in travelling and in order to satisfy passengers, Airbus is now working on a new and better way yo make flying more comfortable for overweight passengers. The Aircraft manufacturing company had filed a patent application for a re-configurable passenger bench seat whereby airline seats wouldn’t be individual seats no more instead, a bench
Now, the bench would be made in such a way that its seat-belt can be configured to accommodate 2 oversized passengers, 3 lesser-weight passengers or 2 adults and 2 children.
According to the patent application filed by the company in August and published by the US Patent and Trade Office this month February, Airbus claims the design can be ”
“adapted to the requirements of the operator” and “to the requirements of specific groups,” including senior citizens, overweight passengers, and those with restricted mobility.
Airline companies have all explored a variety of ways in which they could accommodate overweight passengers covering both seat design and cabin layout. Other forward-looking parents filed by Airbus include design for removable cabin module and a hypersonic jet that would at more than four times the speed of sound.
Another patent application filed by this same company include storage containers that can be placed right under each passenger’s seat.
The design would thus allow flyers to place items right under their cushion instead of the one in from of them.
As with all patents, however, it’s unclear whether any of Airbus’ latest ideas will ever see the light of day.
